IMAGINE: 

• To create a contemporary new medical facility that will be a design leader for the future.

 

CHALLENGE:

• Strong council and neighbour pushback due to the contemporary commercial aesthetic and overall two storey size of development.

• Two services easements running through the site meant certain design considerations.

• Sites close proximity to river meant a Cultural Heritage Management Plan had to be undertaken to ensure no aboriginal artifacts on site.

 

SOLVE:

• Through clever choice of materials and setbacks, contemporary design was approved and council commended the effort in achieving the final design result.

• Due to a client request to have all consulting rooms facing outwards, a central waiting room was required. Natural light was achieved to this crucial space through the introduction of a northern facing highlight window running the length of the space.
